Making Technology Investments Work
Most firms make their technology investments backwards. They begin by exploring a variety of application providers and look at what each has to offer. This process tends to drive excitement around individual features in lieu of absolute need.
As mentioned on the previous page, there are no silver bullets in addressing business problems. Does this mean you should custom design your own applications? No! It means you need to take your time to understand the following points:
- Are we certain we need an application?

- Do we fully understand our current processes?
- Are there gaps or bottlenecks in our current processes?
- What do we want the application to accomplish?
- Are we looking for basic transportation or a limousine?
- Is this an enterprise solution?
- Is this a decision support application
